THERMAL IMAGING

Annual Thermal imaging surveys (or thermographic surveys) are particularly useful and practical for identifying risks and maintaining the safety of electrical systems and appliances. Using noninvasive methods and equipment, qualified electricians and technicians have the ability to locate and assess possible issues or hazards which would otherwise be undetectable to the human eye. They are used in conjunction with the 5 year Periodic Inspection/Fixed Wire Inspection.

Once the electrician has completed the thermal imaging you receive an electrical thermal imaging inspection report which is what we’ll discuss here.

BENEFITS OF THERMAL IMAGING TESTING

Thermal Imaging - Electrical Safety Experts Ireland

Understanding Thermal Imaging

COMPLY WITH REGULATIONS & INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS

All thermal imaging testing conducted by The PAT Group complies with the National Rules of Electrical Installation and can be used as documents for insurance purposes and as reference aides for monitoring maintenance, electrical efficiency and health and safety practices on site.

PROTECT YOUR STAFF AND YOUR BUSINESS

Thermal imaging is particularly useful if there are signs of electrical issues which are unable to be easily and safely identified or located due singular or multiple hazards throughout residential, industrial and construction sites.

Frequency Of Testing

Every Year. Many clients choose to include thermal imaging reports with their periodic inspection reports (PIR) which are required every five years (or three years due to unique circumstances or electrical systems), as thermographic surveys can be conducted simultaneously and safely to provide a more thorough assessment of circuits and other electrical components which may either be undetectable to the eye or in spaces difficult to access. We use thermal imaging instead of the yearly “visual inspection” between periodic inspections as it allows our highly trained electricians to have a much better insight into the current condition of the installation.

THERMAL TESTING REPORTS

All clients receive a detailed report accompanied by high-resolution images of each survey to accurately identify immediate and potential risks in electrical systems and devices to ensure the longevity of electrical systems and devices. These reports are used to inform health and safety practices, maintain electrical systems and appliances and accompany required PIR reports for insurance purposes.

THERMAL TESTING EQUIPMENT

The PAT Group locates hot-spots and hazards using thermal high-resolution imaging devices such as the FLIR E52 and THT600, which are well-recognised for their diverse industrial use among the professional trades and construction industry. These devices provide precise readings with multiple measurement ranges and spotometers to read up to 550 degrees Celsius to ensure that all equipment, circuitry and wiring is getting accurate readings according to their respective environments.

Can It Be Done During Working Hours?

As a non-obtrusive testing service, thermal imaging can be easily conducted during working hours as the imaging devices have the ability to survey large or multiple locations quickly and efficiently, with the readings immediately uploaded to direct cloud storage for sharing organised imagery and reports with clients.
